  • For safety and hygiene reasons, teats should be replaced every 2 months, or at the first sign of wear or damage.
  • Fits all standard size bottles
  • Suitable for babies aged 0 - 24 months

What is the difference between Latex and Silicone?

Latex

  • Latex is a high quality, natural material, harvested from plantation trees.
  • It is durable, with excellent resistance to pulling, prevents tears from splitting further and is extremely elastic.
  • It is a natural product, so fats in the milk as well as exposure to direct sunlight can cause it to age.
  • Latex is generally softer than silicone.
  • Latex products can cause allergic reactions, generally after repeated exposure. As such, Baby-Nova latex teats are specially formulated to be low allergenic, however, if you are concerned, choose a silicone teat instead.

Silicone

  • Silicone is a temperature resistant, high quality plastic, widely used in medical apparatus.
  • It is usually easier to clean than latex, but is not as bite resistant and not as soft or flexible.
  • Direct sunlight and fats do not cause it to age, however, it is more easily scratched than latex.
  • As with any baby product, you will need to replace the teat at the first sign of teeth marks or damage.

Which teat to choose?

  • Which teat you use will depend on your baby's and your personal preferences.
  • All babies are different, and they all have their own likes and dislikes!
  • It may be worth purchasing different types of teats at first to see which your baby prefers.
  • Some babies don't like the new taste of a latex teat, so to take away this taste, just boil the teat for 3 minutes in milk to neutralise the taste.

Safety Standards Compliance:

  • European Safety Standard prEN 14350 - 1, 2 Child Use and Care articles - Drinking Equipment

Care Instructions

  • Always test the teat and bottle before every use.
  • To test the teat, move it in different directions to ensure that it is sufficiently rupture-proof.
  • Do not leave the teat in direct sunlight or heat, and do not leave it in disinfectant for longer than recommended (as this may weaken the teat).
  • Baby-Nova does not advise  sterilising the teat in the microwave.
  • Change the teat immediately on the first sign of damage.
  • For safety and hygiene reasons, teats should be replaced every 2 months.
